A taste of the desert

Egypt boasts the most beautiful and diverse landscapes – from the lush green Nile Valley to the beautiful beaches of the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Coast. A part of Egypt that has not widely travelled or explored, however, is its hidden desert wealth – over 90% of the country is desert!

In the Western Desert, a string of stunning oases lie hidden in the vast, wide open desert sands and mountains. Pockets of fertile land caused by craters closer to water sources hidden deep in the desert floor, they were cultivated since very ancient Egyptian times. They were very important to the Romans and early Christians too, and so they are host to marvellous ancient fortresses, temples and tombs. All together, the oases of Kharga, Dakhla, Farafra and Bahariya form a semi-circle veering away from the Nile, the life source of Egypt, and are called the Western Desert Circuit – which also includes marvels such as travelling sand dunes in the Great Sand Sea, the White and Black Deserts and Crystal Mountain, to name just a few. To do the whole Circuit properly, one would need at least 10 days… And it is a magnificent journey.

For those who do not have the time to do this, however, we are now offering a Taste of the Desert in the form of a three- and a five-day trip to the oasis closest to Luxor: Kharga Oasis. On these tours, you will experience the beautiful landscapes of the desert, tranquil, vast and silent, the wonderful simple agricultural life of the oasis villages, the magnificent ancient monuments and the detoxifying, healing hot springs that are filled with mineral-rich waters from deep below the desert floor. These springs are simple basins, most often set in nature right between the farm fields – they are extremely beneficial to wellbeing, but do not expect polished spa surroundings!

The three-day programme is as follows:

Day 1

Early departure from Luxor – see the fertile Nile Valley make way for the rugged, wide desert. On the way, we will stop to experience the desert and its beauty. Once we enter the oasis, we will go for a visit to the Roman village, fortress and temple of Qasr el Ghuweyta, situated on a high hill with wide open views over the oasis – clever strategic placement by the Romans for sure! We will then move to our first hot spring, and have a freshly cooked lunch under the palm trees before plunging into the waters. Replete and relaxed, we will make our way to our lovely hotel, the Qasr el Bagawat Ecolodge – their philosophy of sustainability and traditional ways of building makes for a perfect blend with the adjacent landscape, and their chef will have a wonderful meal ready for us after we check in and freshen up a bit.

Day 2

After a leisurely breakfast featuring traditional local dishes, we will make our way to the magnificent Temple of Hibis. After visiting this impressive site, we will head to the earliest Christian necropolis of Bagawat, with tombs dating as far back as the 1st century. This site also has a lovely hot spring near a palm grove, and so we will combine our visit there with a simple picknick lunch at the side of the spring, and a plunge into the healing waters.

Day 3

In the morning you have the choice of relaxing at the hotel or heading into the city to have a look around and visit the local souk, pottery makers, and the Kharga Museum – a museum for all the Western Desert Oases and cultures. Make sure to buy some of the dates Kharga is rightly famous for! At midday, we check out and drive to a hot spring for a last lovely lunch amidst the fields and a last dip in the hot waters. Then, we drive back to Luxor, taking in the beautiful sunset in the desert on the way.

Dive Deeper Into the Desert – and Your Self

The desert is also a perfect place to experience silence, stillness, and coming home to yourself. So, on our five-day tour, we will embrace slow travel and add more of an inner journey to our outer journey. Focusing on cleansing, healing, becoming still, mindful and aware, and building our vision from a place of gratitude, this tour includes daily theme card readings to guide you on your path, guided meditations and a Vision Board workshop, as well as plenty of detox time at the healing hot springs and visits to the marvellous sites. Even though seeing and experiencing the oasis is definitely at its core too, this tour takes on the quality of a retreat as well.

Day 1

Day 1 follows the same itinerary as above.

Day 2

We will start each morning with a check-in using theme cards and a meditation, as well as enjoy our beautiful local breakfast at leisure. No rush, just ease and savouring every moment and bite with mindful awareness. After this, we will head over to Bagawat, where we will visit the impressive early Christian tombs and ruins of the earliest remaining ‘cathedral’ in Egypt, and have a picknick lunch at the hot spring next to the archaeological site in between soaking in the lovely spring there.

Day 3

Today, we will work on our Vision Boards! We will do two meditations, one to clear ourselves and become still, and a second one to dive into the rich tapestry of our lives and see all that we already have to be grateful for. From this place of gratitude, we create our vision for the upcoming year(s) and make it visual through a Vision Board – rich with imagery that will help you to come back to your vision time and again and manifest it. After a light lunch at the wonderful Ecolodge, we will drive to yet another hot spring with glorious healing waters. In the evening, we will ask the Fire Master of the Ecolodge to build us a big fire and use it to release any inner blocks that may stand in the way of manifesting our vision. Day 4

After our morning check-in and scrumptious breakfast, we will visit the magnificent ancient Temple of Hibis, with its stunning reliefs and colours. In the afternoon, we will spend our time at a healing, cleansing, mineral-rich hot spring. Day 5

Our last check-in and meditation before checking out of our wonderful Ecolodge will be followed by a short visit to the town and the Kharga Museum. After this, we will have lunch among the fields and under the palm trees at the hottest spring around and take our last dip in its magnesium-rich waters. Then, we will start our drive back to Luxor, experiencing a beautiful desert sunset on the way back and a glorious, starry sky… You will be taken back to your Luxor accommodations full of new experiences, insights, and a sense of peace and vision for the future. In the days following the retreat, observe your body closely for changes brought about by the healing hot spring waters, and enjoy the possibly new-found core of stillness and calm inside yourself.

Green Tree Frog (Western Australia)

Having coffee this morning, we saw a green tree frog on the fence. The little creature walked straight up. A lovely small animal to look at and because it was clouded, we were not able to see its beauty in full color.

As a totem animal it represents  cleansing spiritual energy. It also has a strong link to the element of water as well as the element of earth. The water implicates the emotional cleansing. Furthermore the frog means transformation through water and sound. You will find them both in water as well as on the land.

During our healing sessions in Egypt,  we worked  with the combination of mud and hot baths with a lot of minerals in the water. Triade Travel postponed all trips to Egypt until....? At least till after the elections (summer 2014).

The combination of mud and water is used in healing therapies to get rid of the toxins in the human body. Which works very well.
As a totem of metamorphosis, the frog also signifies the awakeking on ones creatitivity. It is an invitation to jump into our own creative power. They have an excellent depth perception and  they have a well developed sense of hearing. So the frog is associated with clairsentient and clairvoyant abilities.

The tree frog is a strong jumper and a strong swimmer. This frog has a variaty of changing colors from bright green, to red orange and aqua. It helps them to recognise other species but also confusing predators.

Well assume  work has to be done!

e-books and oracle book published by Misty D. Fehus

My dear friend and angel sister Misty D. Fehus has published a E-book about her life in Egypt. Of all places it was Abydos that brought us together. She is an amazing woman and a person that I really respect. All her belongings do fit in just one backpack, which amazes me. But as her slogan is don't get attached, which is true, i do understand why she (or we) don't need more then just one bag. Furthermore she is a lightworker, healer, reiki master, channel, shapeshifter and most of all warm, caring, positive and a versatile human being.

Her new book has been released this week is called " a mystic in Egypt "

"The following stories are about my 4 years of living in Egypt. I have encountered spirits, dark magic, a revolution as well as many occasions which have made me stronger as i faced the fears that were sent my way as well as within me. A 57 year old woman, alone in Egypt, with very different ways of living. May my travels invite you into a mystical journey of great strength.

Well she was really proud to present her new book and i am really happy for her. Her story is really worthwhile to read. As we talked about it when we were both in Egypt.

But there is more. Misty also published an oracle book. A special and unique project created with the help of over 80 artists worldwide from the ages of 3 up to 82....this is "their" soul's message to you channeled through my meditating on each drawing. this project is humanity's efforts to help bring the world together as one... "we are all artists at heart, we simply need to allow ourselves the courage to explore our inner beings" Blessings to one and all !

The e book as well as the oracle book can be ordered by the internet. Just click on the links. Both pictures have been made in january 2013 in Egypt, where the three of us had a great time. Hopefully she and I will meet again very soon, somewhere before she will go for her journey to India.

Ancient Egyptian Oracles, Zodiacs & Secret Chambers

Many ancient Egyptian temples had secret priest holes, or small chambers behind the inner sanctuaries for a priest of the oracle to wait. The temples were dark inside which apart from being practical also added to thier mystery and secrecy.

Direct and sharp lines of daylight travelled straight onto the statues of Gods to add to the impact of being in their presence.

In the floor at Kom Ombo there was a moveable stone, which when raised gave admittance to an underground passage, beneath the wall between the twin sanctuaries of Sobek (left) and Horus (right), the sanctuaries were clearly separated by a hidden chamber thought to be where the priest acting as the 'Oracle' would be concealed this enabled a priest to speak, without being seen, which would add to the belief in the oracles advice, especially if they were standing in the presence of a statue of a God. (Margaret Murray described this secret chamber in her book 'Egyptian temples'

At Dendera temple there is a chamber dedicated to 'The Seven Hathors' who are present at the birth of a child, when they pronounce its fate. They are also called upon for help in matters of love, as well as protection from evil spirits.

Dendera is Famous for its circular Zodiac ceiling in a small room on the rooftop, and also the first hypostle room as we enter the temple is known as the bout of heaven as it also shows astrological signs of the heavens and gods.

Alexander the Great made a special journey through the western desert to consult the Oracle of Amun, and gain answers to some of his questions. This small temple was renowned all over egypt.at Siwa in the western desert .

We are not so different to the ancient Egyptians as all over the world people consult tarot readers, pyschics and oracle readers to help them with guidence on their future path, or advice about problems and how they can be resolved.

On several travels through Egypt Triade Travel offers a astrological birth chart for each guest, and also Tarot readings.

El Bagawat Tombs

The Oases in the Western Desert, I really love them. The Kharga Oases is one of the biggest and used to be an important stopping place on the Road of 40 days. This road has been notorious in the olden days, as there has been transportation of slaves between the 2 countries: Egypt and Sudan.
The oases itself is beautifull and has a winding energy.
The following photos were taken in the chapel of peace, a domed ceiling mortuary tomb in the coptic cemetry of El Bagawat,in the westen desert near kharga, the images represent stories from the bible.

It's a special place, as the energy is really strong and can bring back memories from past lives. But maybe even more important the place is full of spirits.

Spiritual Orbs at Gebel Silsila

Well my guests had a very unusual experience to get to Gebel Silsila. First of all, the day before we were suppose to go to Silila i asked the driver if he knew how to get there. The driver is a very gentle, soft hearted man and when he looked at me with eyes of an innocent child while he answered me in his double dutch English "I don't know". I bursted out of laughter, it was so funny, first of all the way he said it and second the way he looked at me. On the other hand and in the same time it crossed my mind "how on earth are we going to get there? So I do trust my spirits and thought....well, we are going to be allright tomorrow morning, I always am in Egypt.
When we got out of our hotel I bumped into  Hofny (brother of my agent). He is really a nice and gently young lad. He has the same handicap as the driver, they both don't speak English. As far as I understood, my agent had sent him on the train to Aswan at 4 am, to be with us and to guide us to Silsila.
So that morning our driver got lost,  bless him and so we ended up hiring two local fishermen and their boats to row us across the river to the tombs. We had to take this small metal boats, as their felucca, which they usually take to bring people across, was out of order. It was a real laugh and we all enjoyed the experience immensly. This area of the Nile is the narrowist point, and was once considerd to be the place where the soul of the nile resided.

We enjoyed a quiet meditation inside the tombs it was a very happy spiritual experience, and if you look closely you can see spiritual orbs in the room around Hans.

Usually when I do visit this particular temple, there is always something unexpected going to happen. Thanks to the spirits and the nice guardians overthere, we had a great day!

Happy New Year / Gelukkig Nieuwjaar

2013 has already begun and we wish our loyal customers and readers of our blog- and newsletters a happy, healthy, loving and spiritual new year. We thank everyone for their confidence in Triade Travel. As usual we are completely at your service during our unique and magical spiritual journeys, courses, workshops and individual readings. Last year we have added some new tours and destinations like our 8 days spiritual journey to Scotland where we visit various places of high energy, castles, abbeys and haunted places! New to our Egypt trips are: 8 days trip balancing Male and Female energies in Dahab, an gentle empowering trip to the Sinai. Last but not least our 8 days healing chakkra our to Luxor, which will the first and the last one in this form. This trip starts January the 24th and there are still a few places available.
During all our trips and tours you will work on your autonomy and your individual spiritual growth!

Some Other news In 2013 and the upcoming years Triade Travel will only offer Retreats, Desert Tours and City trips to Egypt. This is due to a change in legislation under the new regime of President Morsi. As a matter of fact all rituals, including meditations are now prohibited by the law. That includes for example the pyramids, temples and tombs. It is a legal offence! Triade Travel regrets this very much.

The good news is our announcement of the: Training/Evolving your Psychic Skills and our Chakra Course from bottom to crown.

There are really a lot of beautiful things to look back on, but even more to look forward to. We wish you on behalf of Triade Travel a happy, blessed, healthy, evolved, enriched and prosperous 2013.
